Pink and Black Hugs

August 8th, 2008 Posted in Tour

We are back in Portland and resting after the adventurous first leg of our Operation Bike Nation tour. So many stories to tell, from flat tires and dancing sans bikes at the Les Schwab parking lot in the middle of nowhere,

SOTI sans bikes

to dancing at the Ace Junkyard in San Francisco with our home girls The Derailleurs. Then of course there was the camping and the party with the Tour de Fat guys and Mucca Pazza. Most recently, and the final trip with the veggie oil coach, was to Seattle for the Dead Baby Downhill and Tour de Fat. We were honored to dance at the inaugural Bicycle Belles show alongside our homies Chain Reaction. The weekend ended in an amazing way with a rooftop party on our bus with March Fourth and Paper Bird (also on the Tour de Fat Circuit). The stories go on as I am sure you can imagine.

We have many many members of our greater cycling community to thank for the last few weeks. Here are a few…Joel at Courier Coffee, Tobin for hooking it up in Ashland, The Derailleurs, Cyclecide, Crux Art in Chico, The Bike Church of Davis and the Bike Church of Santa Cruz, our many friends at Tour de Fat, our fabulous (and very safe) coach crew: Dyla, Bill, Aaron, Mel and Missa (now with their very own agent names), our lovely merch gal (and very talented make up artist) Agent Rukus, Jonathan Maus of Bikeportland.org for documenting our performances (see link for more photos), and unforgettably Agent Skully.

August 16 we are in Portland for our next Tour de Fat show. Then back on the road for the Boise show on the 23rd. After that we rest and plan our September shows (there are many requests).

Thanks again all you lovelies who have joined forces with the Operation Bike Nation Tour. Your kindness, generosity and badassocity will never be forgetten by your homies in hot pink and black. We love you all.
